Adapting hands on service to support cancer community who are in the vulnerable catagory. Also provide PPE for staff and volunteers so can begin slowly introducing more of a one on one service face to face where needed. Also provide training for volunteers, staff and community in covid-19 and how to work. |
Project Achievements/ Challenges/Beneficiaries /Partners/Outcomes | Reached more of cancer community in a safe and beneficial way, including face to face chats and treatments to ease anxiety and discomfort following operations and with Lymphoedema. Used suitable PPE to keep volunteers and community safe. Provided massage, reflexology, homeopathy, reiki, counselling and Manual Lymphatic Massage. All of these therapies make a massive difference to their wellbeing both physically and emotionally. Also provided a chat and coffee area in Llandybie centre with small groups of 6 at a time. This has been very important for the community snd staff as some live alone and all are going through a pretty scary time so being isolated has not been great. 60 people benefitted – cancer community, volunteers and staff. Total number of volunteering hours 326 Total number of volunteers 7 For example, one gentleman who was extremely isolated and very shy has come out of his shell after attending zoom sessions throughout the lockdown period. He now looks after all the new clients welcoming them and making them feel safe and at ease. |
