Hi, my name is John. I’ve been a volunteer with the stroke group for many a year.
It started about 26 years ago I’d retired as a head teacher and I was quite determined to spend some of my time doing some volunteer work and – well, not quite sure which area to go into but – one day I was approached by a lady in Llanelli asking me if I would like to join a group, in Llanelli, which was newly formed, which I did. Didn’t think at the time I’d still be doing it 26 years later
Anybody who wants to do any kind of volunteering I can assure you it’s worthwhile. It gives you a very good feel good factor, you meet other people worse off then you but in the long term you meet new friends, you do activities that you didn’t do before.
So I urge anybody out there who wants to do any kind of volunteering, especially if you want to do it with us, with the stoke group, go ahead and do it.
