The community totems are a visualization of what people saw as iconic within their communities. We empowered individuals to have a say in what should be represented on the totems. Using social media we asked people to contribute their ideas. These and informal chats helped us identify the icons for each village around the themes of culture, heritage and environment.
Impact: This is the only public art in the villages and helps serve to enhance a sense of community by highlighting iconic features from each hub.
Outcome: Enhanced community environment both aesthetically and ecologically.
