Three newsletters were developed, designed, printed and then distributed to households within the ward. The newsletters were an important means of communicating to the residents of the three hubs and ‘worked’ irrespective of resident’s digital capabilities or Covid restrictions.

The newsletters enabled the hubs to:

  • publicise groups, ideas, and activities
  • celebrate individuals and groups of volunteers and their contribution
  • encourage new volunteers
  • signpost to additional information (web site/CAVS contacts etc.)

Impact: The bilingual newsletters provided regular information and engagement; this was particularly crucial at times when people were often unable to, or were nervous of leaving the house due to Covid.

Outcome: Helped alleviate social isolation, increased skills and knowledge within the community, increased sense of pride and belonging.

Evidence:

The Community newsletter provides a well-presented summary of local events and achievements, promoting the wonderful benefits of being involved in our local communities.”
