Programme delivery required a flexible and responsive approach at a time when formal volunteering became displaced by community action. The idea of a physical place for the community to meet, share ideas and support one another was no longer a ‘safe’, or practical, option and so all work moved on-line. In many respects the Coronavirus jump started the community call to action in Llanedi, Tycroes and Hendy and supported many of the project’s anticipated outcomes.

It is important to highlight that the breadth of activity achieved, and the quality of resident experience, is largely attributed to the dedication and unwavering fortitude of Ruth Taylor-Davies. As Community Development Officer for the Ward she has been instrumental in coordinating the volunteering efforts, facilitating the co-production of community solutions and empowering residents to actively participate.
